Copy and paste
You can now copy a feature, and paste it with the add button. Since this change, Copy has moved from the ⋮ menu to a copy button in the row below the feature’s title. The two paste choices also have shorter names. This page uses the current names.
- Original location: Groundwork makes a duplicate of the feature at the same position.
- New location: Groundwork uses the copied details, and you place the geometry.
Groundwork uses your system clipboard. So the feature can come from another map, or from a program other than Groundwork, because some desktop mapping tools can copy a feature directly. Groundwork completes the fields of your layer that the pasted feature has matching values for. The pasted feature is always a new record with its own identity.
If the copied geometry does not suit the layer, such as a line pasted into a point layer, Groundwork says so. It offers New location, which uses only the details.
How to try it
- Select a feature.
- Press the copy button below its title.
- Return to the feature list.
- Press the add button.
- Press Paste.
- If your browser asks for clipboard permission, allow it.
- Choose Original location or New location.
- Review the details.
- Save the feature.
