Record geometry from lines and polygons

← What's newediting

A record that you add on a tab of a property, a road or any other line or polygon now gets a geometry of its own: a point, line or polygon. Before this change, only a record that you added on a point’s tab got one.

If the records in that tab’s dataset are points, the new record gets a point inside the polygon, or the middle of the line. If they are lines or polygons, it gets a copy of the feature’s own geometry, but only from a feature of the same geometry type. If the dataset’s records have no geometry, Groundwork stores none.

Groundwork reads which geometry type the dataset holds from the map’s setup, or from the records already in it.

How to try it

  1. Open a polygon or line feature that has a tab of records with geometry.
  2. Open the tab.
  3. Press its add button.
  4. Complete the form.
  5. Press Save.
  6. If these records are also a layer, find the new record on that layer.
